The White Lady by Jaqueline Winspear
Hello everyone it's been a little while since my last strictly book themed piece of content but I am back with a barnstorming thriller by Jacqueline Winspear. A Big thank you to the lovely people at Alison and Busby for sending me this copy in exchange for an honest review. Anyway on with the show!
Plot Time: It's 1947 and the mysterious Miss White is living a quiet life in a grace and favour cottage when a sudden interest in a young couple and their child changes everything. Miss White is suddenly back with old colleagues as she tries to save the couple and their child from their own family all while running from her past.
This book totally blindsided me I had no idea it would be such a compulsive thriller as it turned out to be. What on the surface seemed to be a 40s mystery thriller turned out the have spies, wars and even shootings. It was fantastic totally kept me awake at night not wanting to put it down.
Elinor White is an amazing character. A former spy and agent in two wars her sorrow for what she's become shines throughout. Her talents are shown front and centre.
For history fans theres a lot of fun to be had to. If you loved S.A.S Rogue Heroes you'll be right at home with Miss Whites SOE adventures.
Overall this book is a thrilling and fun read. Moving, clever with twists you'll never see coming you'll never want to say goodbye to Miss White.
