Curious tides by Pascale Lacelle: Review
Hello Everyone! Welcome to 2024! I thought for my first post of 2024 we would start with an aboslute banger and the last of 2023. This book was sent to be by Simon and Schuster in exchange for an honest review. I will start witha brief apology at the end of last year I had some family things come up which meant I wasn't able to blog as much as intended this was one of the books that got pushed back. I am working through them and they will just become some of the 2024 content. Anyway on with the show.
Plot Time: Emory was in some famous caves when her best friend and a group of others were mysteriously killed. Now coming back to her presitigous magic school Emory seeks to find out the truth of what happened that night.
This book has the most gorgeous magic system I have ever read. I was entranced from page one where we are introduced to all the houses and all the magical sub groups. This book was intriguiging and sucked you in from the first page. I would reccomend this book for those looking for books with dark academia and in particular magical schools.
The dual narrative worked super well in this book and I especially love how the actual book they are discussing appears throughout. That detail made the story so vivid and I just could not put it down. This book has real Wednesday energy with just a hint of Gothikana and if you liked that show or book this one will be completely up your street.
Overall I loved this book and it thought it was a fantastic and unique form of magic that I have personally never seen before. There was horror, magic and intrigue in spades and if you love any of those things this book would be for you.
