Dark Academia is not dead! A selection of new great dark Academic reads

I have been compiling this post since January as it seemed like for a while Dark academia despite it's meteoric rise was dying off. Well not so! It's very much still going and I wanted to do a short list of four of my favourite recent dark Academic works. From frobidden romances to Tarot, Murder tos evered hands, This quartet has everythign your little aesthetic heart needs!

The Romance

Gothikana by Ru Nyx

I had heard alot about this book before it's UK release so I went into it very nervous. People seemed to either love it or hate it! However I loved it. It's got everythign you want. Spice, forbidden love, creepy unviersities, curses and so much more. This book for me is an essential part of the Dark academia canon.

The Multi Time Period

The Bleeding by Johana Gustawsson

This one could also beconsidered a gothic thriller but I had to put it here because it totally suprised. Set in 1899, 1949 and 2002 this book really focuses on outcast women. The 1940's section in particular set in between schools and church school gives real Dark Academia vibes. The mystery in 2002 has strangely killed professors and all sorts of evil lurking under the surface. The 1899 section is filled with seances and dark magic. This book is an unmissable event

The Modern One
Hazard Night by Laura Vaughan

This one is more of a traditional dark academia. A posh boarding school, a grisly murder and a whole lot of trouble. However the twist is it focuses on the wife of a teacher and a girl who lives on the mainly boys school campus. It's really really clever and will keep you guessing to the end.

The one for fans of If We Were Villains

The Cloisters by Katy Hays

Is it really Dark Academia if we don't mention If We Were Villains! There is always one about a group of people clever and intelligent with a shared passion and one dies and this is the one I will reccomend. At the secretive Met's Cloisters museum Ann starts working there by accident only to be drawn in to the world of these people there lives and then somebody dies! This book rocks and is seriously underrated!

So there we go four new Dark academia books to prove to you the aesthetic is still going and still just as brilliant as before .
