Mission Impossible Fallout: Another epic installment

If you've followed this blog for even 10 minutes you'll know I am a massive Mission Impossible Fan. I love every single one of the movies (even if the second one is a little well not good). So you can imagine how excited I was to see the newest one. Whilst I was sad to see one of my faviorite characters William Brandt not returning Henry Cavill was joining. So did it turn our to be a good film? it sure did!

SUMMARY TIME: After the events of Rogue Nation,  Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and the whole of the IMF are still cleaning up the pieces. However after a mission goes wrong and nuclear materials fall into the wrong hands the CIA becomes involved. A mission now must take place to stop the nukes but now they have to do it with CIA's best agent August Walker (Henry Cavill) and he is not quite what he seems.

So obviously this film was awesome. It's so exciting every action set piece outperforms the last and everyone is on top form. In fact this has always been where the MI movies shine above everyone else. They have always been brilliantly made (minus maybe the 2nd one) and thrilling. In fact its a testament to this movie that the Halo jump sequence is one of the lesser stunts!

The heart of this movie really does come from Tom Cruise as the incredible Ethan hunt and as usual he delivers brilliantly. All the talk of his weakness being that he saves people and he cares really worked and his determination as usual his brilliant. A bit like what they did with Brandt (Renner who I hope comes back to the next one), Walker is his reflection, the Ethan Hunt without the heart. That came across really well and Cavill was brilliant.

Thats not in anyway to discount the team who were fantastic as per usual. Alec Baldwin had a bit of fun as the secretary and also Angela Bassett as the head of the CIA was a joy. Having Benji and Luther back was brilliant as well. It's always nice to have Simon Pegg in as the comic relief but ol' Benji is turning into quite the IMF badass!

Also of note the two recurring ladies. MI movies haven't had the best track record so having not one but two ladies returning was a bit special. We had MI: Rogue Nation's Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) who is possibly the perfect match for Ethan. We also had the return of Michelle Monaghan as Julia (Ethan's ex wife) who really injected some heart and emotion into her scenes.

It honestly is such a good film and so worth a watch. This series just gets better and better. I can't wait to see whats next for Ethan Hunt and friends (and hopefully the return of Brandt I missed him) next tim!
