Blog Tour: Dredd vs Death Audio drama review
Hello all and welcome to probably my most exciting blog tour I have got to be part of in a very long time. The Audio tour for 2000AD's Dredd Vs Death. This copy of the audiobook was provided to me by Penguin books and Black Crow PR in exhange for an honest review.
Dredd Vs Death is probably one of the most famous Judge Dredd stories ever. A tale of horror and fear stalking mega city one. Judge Death has appeared in the famous mega city and is charging its citizens with the crime of life. Their punishment? Death. Dredd and Psychic Judge Anderson embark on a terrorfying journey across hideous hellscapes to stop Death once and for all
I was super curious to see how an audio adaptation would work and boy did the team deliver. With absolute legend Peter Serofinowicz on the scene it was always going to deliver but the whole cast absoultely bought their A Game. Adam Basil is perfect as the epnymous Dredd and Amber Rose Revah is brilliant as sarcastic and self sacrificing Anderson. Along with strong vocal performances were immersive sound scapes that make you feel like you really are going along with the characters and watching this whole thing unfold.
The character Judge Death has been around since the 90's with Dredd himself first turning up in 1977. If you were worried that this causes them to feel out of touch I can assure you this isn't the case. Dredd had always been oddly prescient and that still shows now where a lot of the issues we see in Mega city one are ones we see today.
Dredd vs Death toes the line of action packed, fun, occasionally comical and scary as hell. This is the perfect audio drama to indulge in over this spooky season. Dredd vs Death is a masterpeice both in comic and in audio form but the eperformances make this audio version completely unmissable.
