The Frozen Crown by Greta Kelly Review
We are back after a break I did not expect to have. Work has been non stop and blogging has to take the back seat most of the time! But I'm back and this time with a review of possibly the most exciting first book of a fantasy series I've read in years. This book was sent to me by Team BKMRK and Harper 360 in exchange for an honest review.
Askia is the heir to the crown for the region of Severesh which is at war and under great stress. She is tasked with travelling to the land of Vishir to secure her throne and her people and form alliances. However she is unaware of the world of politics and is stuck between feuds from family, regions and her new friends.
Askia may just be my heroine of the year. She's badass, smart and analytical. She can play the game and knows when to cash in and when to fold to save face. In fact I'd say all the female characters are fascinating in their own rights. They are all playing games to get what they want or need to survive in a brutal aristocracy. There isn't much love there but there is hope.
What I loved most about this book was the contrast between the fight scees and the balls. The politics played in both were fascinating and the way the balls almost seemed more violent than the training/fighting sequences was incredible.
I absoultely adored this book and am keeping the plot as under wraps as possible because I want you all to seek it out. It's one half of a duology the second part coming out this year and I can't wait. The cliffhanger is intense as hell!!
