Solo: A Star Wars Story: Underrated Gem!
Solo took a bit of a battering at the box office. It took a bit of a battering during production as well. But much like it's titular character Solo picks itself dusts itself down and does exactly what it set out to do.

SUMMARY TIME: Han (Alden Erenreich) and his girlfriend Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke) live on Corelia a planet controlled by a crime ring. Han is desperate to escape and become a pirate but after a failed escape attempt Qi'ra is left behind. Han joins the army but then finds a plucky band of misfit bandits to join as he attempts to get Qi'ra back and win a certain ship off none other than Lando Calrissian himself (Donald Glover).
This film may be the dark horse of the Star Wars series. It definitly knocks Rogue One into a cocked hat simply from not being a big old grump fest. This one is fun, full of action and has some of the best performances from a hell of a cast. It also has some pretty badass ladies who I don't want to spoil but all four are a delight.
If you are a huge heist movie fan this is the film for you. A whole section of the film is dedicated to a massive impossible heist including the practically mythical at this point Kessel run scene which is a joy to behold. The entire film pays homage to the old hollywood heist movies with a hint of Oceans 11 thrown in for good measure. Theres a space mafia (run by an old friend who we haven't seen since episode 1), a bar with a sort of space gold cyborg lounge singer, and the entire palette of the film is browns and golds. Han in particular is styled in a way that has just a hint of Clint Eastwood western to him. Whereas Qi'ra turns very 1940's screen siren as the story progresses.
The big star turn both aesthetically and personality wise is Lando played by Donald Glover. He is fantastic from his swishy capes to his Cheshire cat smile. Every second he's on the screen you are mesmerised by him. This is not to say by the way that the others aren't great and Alden in particular is perfect as Han. The chemistry between Han and Lando is perfect in every-way and I need 17 spinoff movies of them on heists!
Overall this film is underrated and so worth a watch. Thank you Ron Howard for saving it and turning it into this super fun adventure. Catch it while it's in cinemas you'll love it.
